(askanews) – Palazzo Zabarella in Padua presents an exhibition created in collaboration with the LaM, Lille Métropole Musée d’art moderni, d’art contemporain et d’art brut, dedicated to the protagonists of the historical avant-garde around the names of two giants of modernity. Federico Bano, president of the Bano Foundation, presented the exhibition to us, which opens on October 16th.
An exhibition bringing together Picasso and Modigliani in Padua
«It is an exhibition that tells the story of the twentieth century – he explained to askanews – right from the beginning of the century to the end of the century and reaches the present day. And he talks about two pearls, one is Modigliani, the other is Picasso, but between these two great artists who revolutionized the twentieth century, like others naturally, there is a quantity of other works done by also important artists. The twentieth century is the century of the avant-garde, where a great revolution begins. Here, the revolutionaries are all there in this exhibition.”

With a collection of over 8,500 works of art, the LaM brings together important donations that mainly cover the period of the early twentieth century and the Art Brut movement, but today the characteristic of the museum is to offer a very particular look at the art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. And for Palazzo Zabarella and for the city of Padua, the level of dialogue with international institutions of this type is also important. «It means deepening relationships, exchanges – added Federico Bano – we discuss, even with all our collaborators and it becomes a de facto laboratory: an international laboratory».
In addition to Picasso and Modigliani, in the six sections of the exhibition – open to the public until January 25th – it is possible to find works by Braque. Léger, Mirò and Calder.
