Handball Bundeslist SG Flensburg-Handewitt will not give up its Danish star player Simon Pytlick next summer.
The league leaders announced this on Monday, countering recent transfer rumors. At the same time, the SG confirmed that Pytlick’s contract includes an exit clause – which, however, does not yet apply after the 2025/26 season.
“We will not give up Simon in the summer of 2026, and there is no exit clause for the summer of 2026 either. We would like to continue on the path we have chosen with him,” said Flensburg’s sporting director Ljubomir Vranjes.
On the sidelines of the northern duel against THW Kiel (36:34) on Saturday, German and Danish media reported on an agreement between Pytlick and master Füchse Berlin, where Danish world handball player Mathias Gidsel is already under contract until 2029.
Against this background, Flensburg is therefore forced to refer to Pytlick’s “long-term contract with SG Flensburg-Handewitt until 2030”. The club statement went on to say: “The people in charge at Flensburg confirm that Simon Pytlick’s contract – as is not uncommon in the industry – includes an exit clause. However, they are clearly positioning themselves against the statements that a move from Simon is planned for the coming summer.”
The 24-year-old world-class backcourt player Pytlick moved to Flensburg in 2023. With Denmark he became world champion twice and Olympic champion in 2024.
