Striker Medina Desic from Bundesliga soccer club Werder Bremen publicly apologized for an unsavory poster campaign two days after the northern duel with Hamburger SV.

“At the derby, in a moment of euphoria, I held up a fan’s sign that was next to it,” wrote the 32-year-old Montenegrin national player on Instagram. “I didn’t want to offend or provoke anyone, I just ran out of emotions. I’m sorry to everyone who felt offended by this.”

Bremen's Larissa Mühlhaus (l.) raises her arms.

The Hamburg native scored twice against her former club HSV in the first women’s Bundesliga northern derby. And thus expands her strange statistics.

Desic received a poster from a Werder fan

After Bremen’s 2-0 win against arch-rivals from Hamburg, Dedic went on the lap of honor with a poster showing the HSV coat of arms on a pile of excrement. The striker had previously seen the poster in the stands of the Weser Stadium and was given it by the fan.

The HSV fans who traveled along whistled at the action. However, both clubs took it calmly and refrained from making a public reaction.

Bremen's players celebrate a goal

Bitter for the Hamburg women: A bad decision put them on the losing side in the sold-out Weserstadion.
