On April 16, 24-year-old Emiel was found seriously injured at the bottom of an apartment on Osdorper Ban in Amsterdam. He fell into a coma as a result of the fall succumbed weeks later from his injuries. According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), he saw no other way out and jumped because he was being held against his will in the house on the fourth floor.
A total of five people were arrested, one of whom was released. Last month a co-suspect appeared already in court. S10 was not present at the first hearing against the man from Hoorn, but her mother was.
‘He knew exactly what was going on’
F. is suspected of deprivation of liberty and manslaughter. A drug dispute may have been the cause of the kidnapping. According to the Public Prosecution Service, F. was involved in the preparations for the kidnapping and ‘he knew exactly what was going on’. Even though he was no longer present in the apartment at the time of the fatal fall – at 7:02 p.m.
According to the Public Prosecution Service, he was there earlier that day and after the fall he met two co-suspects during a ‘follow-up’ later that evening in Zwaag.
Because the investigation showed that the man from Hoorn was not present when Emiel died, F.’s lawyer had reason to argue for his immediate release.
‘He has nothing to do with it’
“It is a very serious suspicion. He knows nothing about a hostage situation and has nothing to do with it. How can a person be involved in a trap if he is not there at the time?”
Whether F. will have to be detained longer will be known tomorrow. The Public Prosecution Service expects it will take another three to six months for the investigation.
“I am innocent,” F. repeated again during the closing speech. “I have nothing else to say.”
