Hélène Hendriks will go to the Amsterdam theater Carré in three days to represent the big contender Today Inside. Is she going to give a speech? “No, it’s their show!”
There is a very good chance that Today Inside will win the Golden Televizier Ring for the second time in their existence on Thursday evening. It has never happened before that a program has a second chance, but because of the anniversary of the awards festival, all TV titles were allowed to be nominated again.
Hélène is there
Wilfred Genee and his VI friends will be broadcasting that evening and will therefore, just like during their first win in 2011, not be in the audience to possibly receive the prize. They will make an extra long broadcast that evening so that they can call on all their viewers to vote.
The intention is that Hélène Hendriks, the regular VI guest on Friday evenings, will take the stage when VI is declared the winner. She also has a chance to win the prize for best presenter, so she is already there.
Misogynistic
If Hélène receives that prize, possibly together with Noa Vahle and Merel Ek, that would be wonderful, Wilfred thinks. “Because people always say we are a misogynistic program,” he previously said.
That’s all well and good, but Hélène doesn’t want to be the figurehead in Carré, she tells Show news. “I assume that there is a camera crew here at VI. It is their program, so of course they will give a speech if they win it. I just have to pick it up and hold it up.”
Celebrating
A big party has been organized in the VI studio for after the broadcast, according to Hélène. “So we’re going to have a party here, whether they win or not, it doesn’t matter. Of course, we also have Thomas (van Groningen, ed.) who is in the race for talent of the year, so we’re just going to end it festively here.”
Finally: what does Hélène think of the fact that SBS 6 has chosen her to present the studio show The Winner Takes It All? “There will be a very large LED floor, on which forty singers will stand with their own genre. (…) We’re going to see if it suits me too. I’ve never done it before. I’m going to see how it all works.”
