Quote from Phistra

I think Kluivert and the almost entirely Dutch coaching team are being judged too harshly. Indonesia has only gotten this far because they have only been nominating many players trained in the Netherlands since 2024, when politicians probably said “yes” that dual citizens are now allowed in Indonesia. With so many new players, you can’t really expect to qualify for a World Cup straight away, despite significant upgrades to the player material.
You should give him a chance until the Asian Cup 2027, then we’ll see what Indonesia can pull off.

Many fans in Indonesia, with all due respect, have very little understanding of football. That certainly sounds arrogant (perhaps it is to some), but most of them, especially the journalists there, cannot give a realistic assessment of what is and is not possible with the players in such a short time. That’s where this unreflective shitstorm comes from. Clubs like PSG or ManCity are used as a benchmark for how a team supposedly should play. It’s difficult to develop anything in such a critical environment…

I see it completely as you do, the naturalized star players have very little to do with Indonesia, so the integration into the game takes significantly longer than it already does with a national team. The domestic league is also anything but impressive, especially in terms of physical ability, these players cannot compete at the highest level. How is a team like that supposed to qualify directly for the World Cup? Qualifying for the World Cup would simply be a sensation, but you shouldn’t judge Kluivert by that (despite his big name).
