The 3:6 defeat on Friday was followed by a 5:4 win at the Dresden Eislöwen. In overtime, Max Görtz scored the decisive goal for Bremerhaven.

With a lightning double strike from Alex Friesen and Ludwig Bystrom, who both scored in the 3rd minute, the Pinguins created an optimal starting position for the rest of the game. But the Bremerhaven team gave up their early 2-0 lead and were already 3-4 behind after the second third.

For a long time in the third third it looked as if Dresden could extend their lead over time. However, Christian Wejse thwarted the Saxons’ plans and sank the puck into the net shortly before the end of regular time (59th). With the score 4:4 he saved Fischtown into extra time.

Then it only took four minutes until Max Görtz pushed the puck over the goal line (64th) and thus ensured the end of the game.

The penguins fly to Norway

For the win, the Bremerhaven team received two points and thus stayed at the top of the table. Currently only Mannheim and Straubing are better in the table than Alexander Sulzer’s team.

The penguins will now travel on to Berlin. From there they fly to Oslo on Monday, as they face a challenge in the Champions Hockey League on Tuesday evening in Hamar, almost 130 kilometers north. The opponent is Storhamar Ishockey.
