Seventh intervention for the most successful golfer in history, who has not played a tournament since December 2024

Endless ordeal for Tiger Woods, forced to undergo a seventh back surgery. Woods – winner of 15 golf Slam tournaments – said he had felt pain and lack of mobility and explained that “exams showed a collapsed disc at L4/L5, disc fragments and a compromised spinal canal”. The most successful golfer of all time therefore “decided to replace the disc and I already know I have made a good decision for my health and my back”. The surgery took place in a clinic in New York.

It is his second back surgery in the past 13 months and seventh overall since April 2014. Woods also underwent surgery in March for a ruptured left Achilles tendon. He hasn’t played in the PNC Championship since December 2024, with his son Charlie.
