I don’t know how long the Gamma color cards have been there. I estimate two years. But longer is also possible. My wife simply doesn’t make decisions overnight. Color cards in the kitchen, color cards in the living room, color cards on the bedroom floor. In shades of blue, lilac and related colors. It is very precise. Do we paint Charisma, Blueberry, Campanula or Mambo on the walls? Indeed, the names themselves provide no guidance whatsoever. It comes down to feeling and taste.
And dare… Because you can stare at those cards endlessly, but ultimately a choice will have to be made, I sometimes cautiously suggest. Although this is of course the cheapest way to paint your house. With all those cards, our house has long become more colorful in our imagination.
Furnishing the house is a gradual process. Very gradually. But when a whole is formed, we are both very satisfied. Suddenly that new sofa in the living room, the curtains (those ugly ones from the previous residents had only been there for twelve years, ahem), the colored vases and that designer shelf on the wall fit together perfectly. Together we can look around the room from the light pink sofa, deeply satisfied: we thought that was a nice idea together. (Of course, those credits only belong to me to a limited extent.)

We now know that long deliberation is no guarantee for success. “Would you like to see which lamp I found for the desk in the living room?” I am asked a question. As far as I’m concerned, the choice is quickly made, even though the desk lamp is a bit expensive. All that procrastination should be rewarded with a real designer lamp.
And that color? Isn’t it too pink? No, I say confidently. Fits perfectly into our color palette. Soft pink, just like the sofa. Until the big box arrives and the ‘soft pink’ lamp is unpacked. Well, it’s pink, yes. Let’s just call it an eye-catcher.
It’s been there for a few weeks now. And oh well, you’re starting to get used to it.
