Dream final at the World Grand Prix: Luke Humphries and Luke Littler, the two best darts players in the world, will duel for the crown on Sunday.

Humphries beat Dutchman Danny Noppert 5-3 in sets in his semi-final on Saturday. “Cool Hand Luke” quickly gained a 3-0 lead and ultimately brought it to the finish line confidently.

Humphries is in the final of the World Grand Prix for the third time in a row and is following in the footsteps of Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen. Two years ago the Englishman had the upper hand against Gerwyn Price. At the last edition, Humphries surprisingly lost to Mike De Decker.

Like Taylor and van Gerwen, it was “a great achievement” to reach three finals in a row at the World Grand Prix, the world number one told “Sky Sports” with satisfaction.

Luke Littler has his eye on the top of the world rankings

Humphries will face Luke Littler on Sunday evening. “The Nuke” won his semi-final 5-1 against Jonny Clayton from Wales.

The 18-year-old is looking forward to another showdown with Humphries. “I definitely owe him something for the Premier League, but Luke has a very good record here. He’s lost once and won once, but it’s all new to me,” Littler told Sky Sports.

The reigning world champion narrowly lost the Premier League final this year 8:11 against Humphries. Littler wants to take revenge at the World Grand Prix. “Hopefully I can get the win and stay on his heels to become number 1 in the world,” said the darts superstar.

Littler is currently ranked second in the world rankings. Leader Humphries has a lot of money to defend in the coming weeks as the PDC Order of Merit is made up of earnings from ranking tournaments over the last 24 months.

“Cool Hand Luke” celebrated great success at the end of 2023, including triumphs at the World Grand Prix, Grand Slam of Darts and the Players Championship Finals. At the beginning of 2024, Humphries also became world champion.
