October is known to many interior enthusiasts as the living month. The days in Zoetermeer are getting shorter, you are indoors more often and especially then you want a cozy and attractive home. But how do you approach that without renovating everything or spending too much? Maudy van Quantum know exactly what now trendy is in furniture and home accessories, and shares her tips.
According to Maudy, furniture category manager at Kwantum, the beginning of autumn is the time to give your interior a fresh look. “You notice that people are paying more attention to their homes again.” Bee Quantum you will find everything you need: a new chair, vase or other lamp often works wonders. “This way you can create a completely different atmosphere in an instant, without turning your entire interior upside down.”
Travel, discover and gain inspiration
Maudy isn’t the nine-to-five type. “I regularly travel to Asia and visit manufacturers and international fairs. I get inspiration from hotels, restaurants, friends’ homes or even from TV programs and influencers. Much of what I see is reflected in the trends that we bring to the stores.” Handy for us! This way you can be sure that your living room will be completely on trend this fall, without having to travel halfway around the world.
Trends do not arise overnight. These are long-term developments that arise from social, economic and technological changes. Maudy: “Choose an interior style or trend that really suits you and develop it further organically.” Kwantum also works that way. They always choose fun, inspiring trends that they continue to develop. This way you can always succeed and furnishing your home will not be complicated and, above all, affordable.

The trends of today
Maudy sees two trends that dominate this fall: Nordic and Retro. Nordic is all about comfort and tranquility. Think of soft fabrics such as bouclé and velvet, light woods, flowing round shapes and natural colors. “We want a house that literally embraces us,” says Maudy. Sofas become cuddly, tables get rounded corners, and everything feels warm and secure.
Retro mixes vintage with modern elements. Warm wood tones, shiny steel and high-gloss side tables give your interior character. “This trend feels familiar and warm, especially for those who grew up in the 70s, like me. It’s like coming home to your own cozy cocoon.”
Small adjustments, big effect
Do you want to give your interior a fresh boost without a major renovation or burden on your wallet? Maudy will help you on your way:
- Bring more color into your home with small furniture: poufs, side tables and cushions. With a rug you can create an attractive whole from a cozy corner. Now that the days are getting shorter, the right lamps are important.
- Smart choices for small spaces: a sofa that is too large makes a small living room seem even smaller, while a table that is too small makes a large room empty and cold. So always measure your space first.
- Mix old and new: give your home a personal touch touch. Combine vintage finds, heirlooms or souvenirs with modern items.
Her golden tip: “Artificial plants are your best friend. They provide life, color and warmth and you don’t have to have green fingers or a huge budget for them.”
