The driver question in the two Red Bull racing teams is one of the most exciting that is still open with a view to the 2026 Formula 1 season. Some insiders speculate that no stone could be left unturned, especially in the in-house B team.
Several drivers in Red Bull’s two Formula 1 teams are currently fighting for their future. Isack Hadjar has it best of all because he will stay safe. The only question for him is whether he will be promoted to the A team in 2026.
Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson’s perspective, on the other hand, is quite bleak. According to “Sky Sports” insiders speculating in the “Sky F1” podcast, they could possibly both lose their jobs in a few weeks.
Is Red Bull relying on a completely new driver pairing?
“After the early whispers, I have the feeling that you could get two new RacingBulls drivers next year,” said Simon Lazenby, citing a double dismissal of Tsunoda and Lawson with a simultaneous promotion of Hadjar as an option.
British racing driver Jamie Chadwick thinks this scenario is likely for a very specific reason. “They don’t want to find the next number two driver or someone who just drives solidly. They want to find drivers who can become the next superstars in Formula 1,” she speculated that Red Bull is primarily looking for the next Max Verstappen. The last few months have shown that Tsunoda and Lawson are not.
“They would be better off if they tried something new. Then maybe they could find something like Isack Hadjar,” said Chadwick, explaining that the chance of finding the new Max would be greater if two youngsters were installed in the B team.
Will Tsunoda end up at Aston Martin?
In this context, Ted Kravitz brought up the name Alex Dunne, who officially left McLaren a few days ago. The pit lane reporter said he had heard a story that Red Bull would try to get Dunne. Helmut Marko had also already commented on this.
However, Kravitz said he doesn’t know whether this means that Arvid Lindblad will stay in Formula 2 for another year and Dunne will go to Racing Bulls and Yuki Tsunoda will end up as a replacement driver at Aston Martin, as already speculated.
