Magistrates’ recusal of assize trial on baby murder declared unfounded: trial continues on October 22

The request for recusal that the lawyers of Nora R. (31) had submitted against the chairman and the two assessors at the assize trial surrounding the baby murder in Tongeren-Borgloon was declared unfounded by the Court of Cassation. “From the mere fact that the court of assizes refuses an additional investigation and a postponement, it cannot be deduced that the court can no longer judge impartially and independently,” the statement states.
