October 9 – 00:27 – MILAN

Pure adrenaline: from the first of the four days. The 8th Sports Festival starts at 300 km/h, with a breathtaking programme, capable of involving dozens of disciplines. There’s something for all tastes. Trento, as always the ideal venue for the La Gazzetta dello Sport and Trentino Marketing event, is ready to offer a very long weekend of emotions. Halls and streets, squares and theaters will be filled: everywhere there will be a contagious enthusiasm and you will breathe a wonderful atmosphere.

Ready, go

As per tradition, the Grand Inauguration will take center stage today on the opening day, at 6pm at the Teatro Sociale. In the season which, from a winter perspective, leads straight to the Milan Cortina Games in February 2026 and from a summer perspective already winks at Los Angeles 2028, super guests will be two great Olympic athletes: Carolina Kostner, bronze in figure skating at Sochi 2014 and Gimbo Tamberi, gold in the high jump at Tokyo 2021. Doing the honours, Urbano Cairo, president and CEO of RCS MediaGroup and the president of the Autonomous Province of Trento Maurizio Fugatti. Also on stage was a performance by sabers Luca Curatoli and Luigi Samele, Olympic medalists and world champions.

Tatami, net and bike

The Festival, of course, will start well before. Among the first meetings not to be missed, for example, the one with the judokas Assunta Scutto and Alice Bellandi (at 2.30 pm at the Palazzo della Regione) who in June became world champions in the 48 and 78 kg categories. At 3pm, at the Santa Chiara Auditorium, with the national team’s fresh exploit in Manila in his eyes, the former Italian player Matteo Piano will present “The volleyball of phenomena”, the launch of the Super League, the championship of the two world champions, starting on Monday 20th. In the room will be several players led by the world champion MVP Michieletto and the national coach De Giorgi. Cycling enthusiasts will wrestle their hands with Fabian Cancellara (Philharmonic at 4.30pm), a time trial giant with two Olympic gold medals and four world championships in his palmares.

Football and motors

He won’t miss the ball. The one (three times gold) of Le Roi Michel Platini (Santa Chiara, 8.30 pm). The Frenchman, one of the greatest Juventus players ever, won everything in the five seasons following the 1982 World Cup. Hearing the story of those years from his voice will tug at the heartstrings. Among the unmissable events, two related to motors: with Gabriel Bortoleto and Mattia Binotto (Philharmonic, 7pm) and with Francesco Bagnaia (Teatro Sociale, 8.45pm). In the first you will enter the world of F.1 and that of Sauber/Audi thanks to the young Brazilian driver and the expert Italian technical director. In the second space, MotoGP. Pecco, with his Ducati, is going through a complicated season: but he won’t be long in redeeming himself. And then which sport, more than that of two wheels, offers pure adrenaline? Part of the Festival schedule is naturally dedicated to the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Games. A taste today at the 12th (Palazzo della Regione) with “Stories of Games”: guests Belmondo, Luchini and Mosaner. For Paralympic sport here are our stars returning from the World Championships: Barlaam, Ghiretti and Mecenate in “Onda azzurra” (4.30 pm Palazzo della Regione).
