Charged with conspiracy to commit murder

According to the allegations, the attempted contract killing was in retaliation for the murder of King Von in 2020, as Hot New Hip Hop reported. Shots were fired at the targets Quando Rondo and his cousin Saviay’a “Lil Pan” Robinson at a gas station on August 19, 2022. While the former remained uninjured, Robinson succumbed to his injuries at the scene. On October 24, 2024, Lil Durk was arrested near Miami International Airport as part of the investigation and charged with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire.

Ordered more murders?

Now “Hot New Hip Hop” reports further details, citing the hip-hop site “Kurrco” on the X platform, which published an excerpt of the lawsuit on October 7th. According to this, Lil Durk is said to have ordered the murder of several members of O’Block because they would not have avenged King Von’s death themselves.

O’Block is the colloquial name of the Parkway Garden Homes apartment complex on the south side of Chicago, Illinois, from which both Lil Durk and King Von hail. Founded in 1950, it was the first African-American construction project. Due to social neglect, the area became a hotspot for gangs and organized crime. It is considered one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the USA and was also the name of WELCOME TO O’BLOCK, King Von’s debut studio album – and the only one released during his lifetime.

Lawyers: Indictment does not contain enough details

Now Lil Durk’s legal team, whose real name is Durk Banks, is trying to have the lawsuit dismissed. In a new motion filed in early October 2025, lawyers argue that the indictment does not provide enough detail to prepare for trial.

“Although the indictment alleges that the co-conspirators committed various acts ‘at the direction’ of Mr. Banks – flying to Los Angeles, following, stalking and attempting to [Quando Rondo] “To kill by shooting, as well as the procurement of the firearms and equipment used to do so, it does not contain any details,” Lil Durk’s attorney Drew Findling said, according to Hot New Hip Hop. “When, where, how and to whom did Mr. Banks give these alleged instructions? To ensure the fundamental fairness of this trial, the defense has a right to know.”

“No allegation that Mr. Banks was physically involved in the shooting.”

Findling continued: “What the indictment omits are the very things the defense should know: the ‘operational facts’ underlying the government’s theories about Mr. Banks’ guilt. There is no allegation here that Mr. Banks was physically involved in the pursuit and shooting at issue.”

King Von, a member of Lil Durk’s hip-hop group Only the Family, was shot and killed in an altercation with Quando Rondo in November 2020. Lil Durk and King Von were close both musically and personally. In May 2019, both were arrested in Atlanta for an attempted murder in February of the same year. After weeks in jail, they were released on bail. After King Von’s death, the case initially stalled. Two years later, in October 2022, the charges against Lil Durk were dropped.
