Although many believe otherwise, the Milei brothers do not always think and want the same thing. On the rare occasions in which this happens, Troy usually burns in that fraternal bond: the brother gets angry and shouts, she withdraws the word from him and cuts off communication for a few days, forcing the president to seek emotional support elsewhere. In the long run, however, history shows that Karina always ends up achieving her goal.
Today the Government seems involved in one of these situations. The President tried, after the Buenos Aires electoral defeat, to expel “Lule” Menem and Sebastián Pareja, Karina’s shipowners with whom he never had a great relationship and who are the great enemies of Santiago Caputo and his gang. But the secretary general did not allow it, making it clear who really has power in the Government.
Since then, the president has been looking for ways to continue supporting Caputo’s wing. The star private advisor admits to being very beaten up and thinking about retiring from the Government after the elections. Milei knows this, and fears that outcome: the libertarian, a man who has been haunted by loneliness his entire life, sees in Caputo a great friend, more than an employee. “Today Javier is very alone, his sister keeps him in Olivos all day and watches over those who enter. Javier doesn’t want to lose Santiago,” they say at the Casa Rosada.
In those hallways, unusual theses are rehearsed. They say that Milei tries to smooth over “Lule” Menem and Pareja quietly, without her sister finding out. Almost as if he was afraid of her. Along these lines, without asking permission from the “Boss” – as he calls Karina -, he asked “The Forces of Heaven” to escort him during his entrance to the Movistar Arena, at the presentation of his new book. Although it was symbolic, at a time when Caputism was losing power within the Government day by day, the gesture was quite a sign. Karina found out from the announcement made by Agustín Romo, a Buenos Aires legislator and one of her great enemies internally, on Daniel “El Gordo Dan” Parisini’s streaming channel. In the ruling party they say that he was angry with the announcement.
It was not the only episode that made her explode with anger these days. During Tuesday the 30th, the news circulated throughout the red circle that the President had decided to expel from the space Ramón “El Nene” Vera, a point guard in Moreno who comes from residual Peronism and is one of the greats targeted by the advisor’s side. Every time Karina sees some information about her side floating around in the media, she doesn’t hesitate to imagine what its origin was. The response was immediate: the next day “Lule” Menem summoned Vera to the Casa Rosada. Cristina Kirchner’s former candidate uploaded a photo to his personal Instagram account, where he is seen smiling and entering Balcarce 50. It seems not to be a coincidence: several journalists close to Caputo had also considered Menem expelled after the electoral defeat. And although “Lule” kept a low profile for a few days, he continued to go to his office in La Rosada regularly.
In any case, all the tribes of the ruling party take for granted that after the elections there will be a serious rethinking of the Government. Especially if the result is adverse. At a minimum, Patricia Bullrich and Luis Petri will leave the Cabinet, in addition to the move of Manuel Adorni to the Buenos Aires Legislature. Mariano Cúneo Libarona and Luis Caputo are also in the crosshairs, with an economic plan about to explode. Macri, in the meeting with Milei at Quinta de Olivos, asked him to expand the ruling party and resume ties with the former allies. On his trip to the United States, the libertarian took the same request. Will it give rise to other spaces within the Cabinet after the votes? It is a scenario that is beginning to take shape. First, in any case, the Karina-Caputo war will have to be settled.
