The 39-year-old Açıkgöz (39) was allegedly taken from her bed by the narcotics brigade on Wednesday morning. She is part of a group of 18 detainees, including several other Turkish celebrities.
Blood test and interrogation
According to the newspaper Hurriyet Hadise is suspected of drug use and encouraging drug use. The Istanbul prosecutor’s office only confirms that the investigation revolves around “the use of narcotics or stimulants.”
Hadise and the other suspects were first taken to different hospitals for a blood test and then interrogated at the local police station.
No arrest warrants have been issued and no official charges have been filed against those involved, meaning they will in principle be released after their interrogation.
List of celebrities
The Turkish public prosecutor’s office published a list of all those involved. In addition to Hadise, this includes well-known singers, actors, television personalities and influencers.
“The question on everyone’s mind is: why these 19 names, and why these interrogations without arrests?” CNN Turk. “Their names must have been mentioned in an investigation. Was it an operation targeting drug dealers, and were their names mentioned during technical surveillance? For some reason the public prosecutor took this action.”
Hadise is a Turkish star
Hadise is known as a big star in Turkish pop music. However, she was born in the Belgian town of Mol and became known in 2003 for her participation in a talent show Idol after which she also achieved success in her motherland.
She represented Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009.
