The pressure on Peter van der Vorst is increasing now that he stubbornly sticks to his failed TV child RTL Tonight. “Someone has to take over his position and look at it with a fresh look.”

Peter van der Vorst has exchanged the excellent scoring talk shows Beau, Humberto and Renze for the completely failed RTL Tonight. He already saw it completely: a team of fixed faces would explain to the Netherlands in the coming years how the world works. Well, unfortunately for all those involved, the country sees this as a B performance.

Canal belt

The unveiling of the face of Astrid Holleeder was a nice gimmick and the buying away from today inside-star controversial, but RTL Tonight does not deliver. The program scores bar badly, but Peter doesn’t want to get it off the tube, because he’s in it and really thinks it can be something.

According to TV critic Victor Vlam, Peter uses this program to show his own progressive worldview to the viewer. “The big problem at RTL Tonight is still the great lack of diversity of votes. They are generally canal belts that are proclaimed there,” he says in Victor explains TV.

New blood

Why is RTL Tonight, according to Victor, so canal belt? “That of course has everything to do with Peter van der Vorst, who also has that opinion himself and also lives in that canal belt. The question is what Peter van der Vorst can still do to solve the problems.”

He continues: “I honestly think that the conclusion is: this is just such a big flop and everything he has tried in the last five weeks – and he has been very intensively involved in it – has not worked. All has not worked. New blood is needed at RTL to solve this problem. New ideas from a new person.”

“Peter has to get out!”

In other words: Victor believes that Peter should look like RTL boss. “The existing ideas have only led to this late evening in the ditch. It is really a drama that happened there, and that is all because of greatness madness, isn’t it?”

“This has been a tens of millions of euros -cost project and the viewing figures are only halved. It is bizarre what happened here. It is really a poignant level of incompetence by Peter here.”

Bond with the viewer

The new RTL owner DPG Media is better off throwing out Peter, thinks Victor. “Peter just lost the bond with the RTL viewer. It all had to radiate prestige to pee his friends in the canal belt, but that is not what the RTL 4-viewer wants. I think new leadership ensures that a reset is coming.”

“Someone who takes over the position of program director and who then looks with a fresh look, and is not tied to certain ideas because of ego. I personally think Peter is really a very nice man, but it simply no longer is possible. There is a change. This is really incredibly messed up. It is all astonishing to see.”
