In an interview with the British magazine Rolling Stone, Tomlinson looks back on the sudden death of his One Direction colleague: “I have never lost a friend.”

Payne died in October last year at the age of 31 after a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. “Naive enough, I thought that because at this point I am fairly well known with sadness before my age, it would alleviate the blow. That was super naïef,” says Tomlinson.

According to the singer, the recent jubilee of the band felt ‘uncomfortable’. “Because the feeling of celebrating is just as important, if not more important than ever, in memory of Liam.” Last July the band existed for fifteen years.

Last week reported The Hollywood Reporter That Tomlinson makes a road trip to the United States for a Netflix documentary together with former One Direction member Zayn Malik. In the documentary, the British reportedly discuss their lives and career and that of Payne.
