US President Donald Trump claims he has never heard music from one of the world’s biggest artists. When he called into Newsmax’s Greg Kelly Reports on Tuesday, he was asked about Bad Bunny, who will headline the Super Bowl halftime show.
“This guy doesn’t seem to be an entertainer who unites people – many don’t even know who he is,” Kelly confronted the president. (Fact check: Bad Bunny’s albums top charts worldwide and break streaming records.)
Trump responded: “I’ve never heard of him. I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing this – it’s crazy. And then they blame it on a promoter they hired to organize the entertainment. I think that’s absolutely ridiculous.”
Bad Bunny Reacts on “Saturday Night Live”
On Saturday Night Live over the weekend, Bad Bunny joked about the criticism from the right he received for his selection to headline the Super Bowl. He said that “everyone was happy” about his appearance – “even Fox News.” He then showed a series of clips of the network’s hosts saying together: “Bad Bunny is my favorite musician. And he should be the next president.”
Reactions from politics
Over the weekend, US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents would be present “everywhere” at the 2026 Super Bowl. She also criticized the NFL’s decision to book the Puerto Rican star as a headliner for the halftime show. Bad Bunny recently explained why he won’t be performing in the US on his upcoming tour: he’s afraid ICE might target his fans. When asked by Suzy Exposito in an interview with iD if this decision was made “out of concern” for his Latin American fans, he replied: “Man, to be honest, yes.”
