RTL 4-talk show host Beau van Erven Dorens is attacked by the competition at SBS 6. There, shame of his presence at the Rode Line Protest in Amsterdam is spoken.
For the third time, a massive red line protest was held in Amsterdam against the Israel position of the cabinet. According to the organization, at least 250,000 people were present yesterday to draw attention to Gaza. One of those present was RTL 4 presenter Beau van Erven Dorens, who posted a photo on his Instagram.
Beau is criticized
TV critic Victor Vlam thinks that is a blamage. “Beau was also there and I honestly don’t think that is possible,” he says at the table The Oranjezondag. “If you present a neutral, journalistic talk show – that’s what they pretend to be at RTL Tonight – then I think it’s very crazy if you go to such a demonstration.”
The reason for this is clear, says Victor. “Because you also have to be able to interview Pro-Israël people there in your talk show. That is simply more difficult when you go there.”
Dear man
Hostess Hélène Hendriks jumps in the breach for Beau. “I was not there, but Beau is a very sweet man and he means that it is good.”
Victor: “Yes, but you always protect colleagues. You are a very friend and that is very good, people also appreciate that to you, but cynical people are almost always right. That is a fact in life.”
How does he look at that protest? “You see 250,000 people walking there and I thought: that is 250,000 narcissists. I mean that seriously.”
Narcissists
Why does Victor find people who draw attention to the situation in Gaza Narcissists? “There are many people who have a lot of attention to the problems in the world, but they have zero eye for the problems in their own community, because indeed: you can’t do anything about what is happening in Gaza and the Dutch government is not.”
He continues: “They do it for themselves there. Those people are there to give themselves a pat on the back, they have solved the world problems, they think herself is fantastic, but I have news for those people: you are all narcissists.”
What does Beau say?
Beau also had a broadcast last night. How does he look back on the protest? “It was pretty moving to see how many people came up with it,” he says in RTL Tonight. “Take a look at how many there are!”
Studiogast Frits Barend also points to the situation in Israel. “My niece of 78 was in the shelters three times a day until that attack on Iran six weeks ago. Not for D’r Lol.”
Right of extremism
Beau is annoyed by Frits’s attitude. “Yes, but that is the side of Israel and we all see the side of Gaza, where 66,000 people were murdered! There are 66,000 people dead, Frits, you should also discuss that side! You can’t just discuss that one side.
Frits: “Israel defends his citizens. A dead citizen doesn’t care. Hames is not interested in them that they want to have the power.”
According to Beau, Israel has a very wrong national administration. “What we see for the government is something incredible. That is right extremism to the max.”
