The home win against Heidenheim gets a thread for VfB Stuttgart. Vice-captain Memedin Demirović will be out for the time being.

Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart has to forego attacker Ermedin Demirović indefinitely. As the Swabians announced on Monday, a “beginning fracture of the foot root” was found at the attacker after the game on Sunday against 1. FC Heidenheim (1-0). Demirović, who had led his team against the FCH as a captain, still played for 90 minutes.

The club was not aware of how long the striker fails, only wrote: “The 27-year-old cannot take part in training and game operations until further notice.” The “kicker” reports that the downtime could be up to eight weeks.

VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth told the journal: “Until Deniz (Undav, editor’s note) and Medo (Demirović, editor’s note), we will have to distribute the tasks over several shoulders. We will be dependent on improvisation and creative solutions. We have successfully managed something in the past.”

After changing shooting star Nick Woltemade to Newcastle United and Deniz Undav’s injury, Demirović was the central figure on the offensive of the DFB Cup winner. In ten competitive games this season, the Bosnian international, who now also missed the international matches against Cyprus and Malta, scored five times and prepared another goal.

In the Bundesliga, the fourth of the table from Stuttgart will be a guest at VfL Wolfsburg after the international break on October 18.
