As expected, sales in the retail trade of the euro zone rose only slightly in August. In the month comparison, sales climbed by 0.1 percent, as the European Statistics Office Eurostat announced on Monday in Luxembourg. Economists had expected this.

In July the sales had shrunk a little less than initially found. The statistics office revised the decline from minus 0.5 percent to minus 0.4 percent. Compared to the same month last year, retail sales rose by 1.0 percent in August. An increase of 1.3 percent was expected here.
