The guests from Freiburg looked tired. Julian Schuster’s team looked passive against the last tumbling Borussia, who had previously dealt with ten goals in the two home games. But Freiburg remained harmless and could not develop Gladbacher against himself.

Gladbach collects and becomes brave

Gladbach used the favor of the hour and became braver. Neuhaus in particular set offensive accents in a playmaker’s role. So it took just under half an hour for the fans to see the first chances in the Borussia Park: Neuhaus and captain Rocco Reitz appeared in front of Noah Atubolu, but took too long to finish a goal (28th). Just a minute later, Kevin Diks extended a wide throw -in, and Yannik Engelhardt headed, but Atubolu was on the post. Then Philipp Sander pulled off the distance, but also put the Freiburg keeper in front of no problems (31st).

The VAR was also used: when Freiburg’s right -back Philipp loyal to Jens Castrop stops, the referee team checked a possible emergency brake. But Treus use corresponded to the rules.

Best Freiburg Chance after the break

After the change of sides, the Gladbacher continued to strive for countable but great chances remained in short supply. Shortly before the hour, substitute Johan Manzambi served Jan-Niklas Best, who missed the Gladbach Tor (56.). It was also Manzambi who hooded an involuntary submission of Engelhardt ten minutes later.

Polanski leaves Regional league clippers Debut urbich

Polanski now wanted to make nails with heads in the middle of the second half and brought reserve player Jan Urbich, who has already scored eleven goals in the regional league for Gladbach’s reserve in the current season.

And that should be felt directly. First, Urbich made space for Neuhaus, but if a chance did not put enough pressure behind the ball (73.). A little later, however, the Bundesliga debutant put on for Neuhaus, which again could not overcome Atubolu.

Nicolas saves the point

Gladbach’s goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas presented the biggest opportunity for a huge challenge. Because after a yellow -worthy foul by Joe Scally, the fouled Derry Scherhann got on the ball and let go of a precision shot. But Nicolas guessed the ball flight and steered the shot on the crossbar at the last moment.

In the final phase, almost something developed like an open exchange of blows – but when the Grant -Leon Ranos, who was substituted in a row, pulled a corner in added time far beyond the goal area: That evening it won’t be anything with a Gladbach goal. And on the opposite side, referee Schlager did not consider a trap by Manzambi in the penalty area to be ready for penalty.
