The journey had some feet in the earth. Storm Amy almost threw a spanner in the works: The flight was canceled because of the strong wind. Yet the group did not let itself be out of the field. “It was all a bit insecure, but we’re going! Holland is ready,” says trainer David Chung cheerfully. Later that day they could still leave – with the necessary relief and enthusiasm.
For some participants this adventure is a scoop, such as for Logan Chen, who has autism. Parents also look with excitement: “He has worked there for months, extra trained and he is doing his best. We are very proud.”
The importance of the World Cup
The Taekwondo World Cup is more than a sporting event for these athletes. It gives them an international stage to show what is possible and how sport connects. For the participants it means self -confidence, social contacts and a huge motivation to keep training. Coach David plays a major role in this: “He is such a good coach, we trust him completely,” says a parent.
