The work was already deposited in all sites of the company on Thursday. Clarebout Potatoes has branches in Nieuwkerke, Waasten, Mouscron and the French Dunkirk. The reason for the strike is the dissatisfaction about the sale of the company to the US Simplot. Clarebout Potatoes is said to have been sold for billions. The employees want a premium because they have built up the company.
The management had proposed a premium of 500 euros, but according to the employees that was not enough. “We asked the management to go to the table, but it is completely windless for the time being,” says Decock. “The strike continues as long as we don’t hear from the management.”
