FOOTBALL – FC Emmen lost 3-2 in an exciting game at SC Cambuur. The team of coach Menno van Dam not only lost the game, but also midfielders Djenahro Nunumete and Rodney Kongolo. And that while earlier in the day defender Pascal Mulder dropped out. The infirmary in Emmen is therefore overcrowded.

Van Dam already had a long list with injured players prior to the game. He was forced to start with five defenders in the game with Cambuur, in which Kongolo wore the captain’s band.

Despite the injury gerels, FC Emmen started the game strongly. The changed formation set Cambuur early and that brought off its fruit. First, Romano Postema got a nice chance and a little later the 0-1 again was. Filimon Gezgiher came in scoring position and made a great choice by looking for the short corner. A good save from Cambuur goalkeeper Thijs Jansen prevented a Drenthe lead.

The first opportunity for Cambuur came from the shoe from Ichem Ferrah. The finely stunned Frenchman pulled in, but shot straight on Luca Unbehaun.

While the home team got better in the game, FC Emmen took the lead. Gerezgiher suddenly put a long ball for the goalkeeper, but the flank player doubted too long. Postema did not do that in turn: he shot the guests at 0-1.

But as is often the case, FC Emmen could not enjoy it for long. Within a few minutes the ball was also on the other side via Remco Balk: 1-1. Before half time it could have just been 1-2. The tireless Lukas Larsen reached Postema and he tried it with the heel, but the Groninger had not seen Gerezgiher standing behind him. With that knowledge he probably stayed away from it.

Immediately after the break, the busy Gezgiher seemed to give the Emmenaren the lead. A handy rocker went to the goal, but was taken off the line. While FC Emmen stood with ten men for a moment because of an injury at Nunumete, Cambuur came to 2-1. Again the beam, now on a pass from Oscar Sjöstrand, was with the goal.

In the 73rd minute, Cambuur made 3-1 in a magnificent way. It was Ferrah who painted the ball from very far in the far corner. The faith at Emmen flowed away, but substitute Tim Geypt also had a nice goal in the house. From about twenty meters, he extended the ball behind Jansen: 3-2.

Faith returned for a moment, but a result no longer yielded it. FC Emmen again lost a number of players and the match. The team, now fifteenth in the ranking, is in the corner where the blows fall.
