For the smallest owl in the Netherlands, the flag goes out tomorrow. The Steiluilwerkgroep Drenthe has been in existence for twenty -five years and therefore celebrates tomorrow.
“We facilitate all the little owls in the province,” says Erwin Bruulsema, chairman of the foundation. “We take care of nest boxes, climbing belts and ladders, everything that the volunteers need to work safely. The volunteers are doing their best to protect the little owls in our province. That is why a twenty -five year anniversary is therefore a party.”
In the morning there are various lectures for involved volunteers, nature organizations and other interested parties. In the afternoon everyone is welcome at a pleasant and informative experience market around the Schaapskooi on the Holtingerveld.
Around a thousand nest boxes hang in Drenthe. “The number of breeding pairs is lower,” said the chairman. “The number of breeding pairs is fairly stable and is between one hundred and fifty and the two hundred. The working groups have around one hundred and twenty nests in the picture.” The little owl is doing the best of the three northern provinces in our province.
The little owl is the smallest owl that occurs in the Netherlands. The ‘hand full of owl’ loves a small -scale landscape with messy heirs, places with hedges, high -stem fruit and dilapidated sheds. With more than 150 volunteers, the Steiluilwerkgroep Drenthe is committed to supporting the species in Drenthe.
In addition to the little owl work group, there are all kinds of (natural) organizations on the Beleefmarkt with nice gift items, nest boxes and binoculars. Information is also given about the greening of your environment. This is not only a little -free, all kinds of other species also benefit from this.
