Markus Ahonen weighed the European Championship gold.

Markus Ahonen has won gold at the European Championships in the Equipment Benchmark in Malta, the Powerlifting Association reports.

Ahonen, who competed in the 120-pound series, was benching unimaginable 340 pounds. This is also a new Finnish record. The old one healed by five pounds.

The European Championship was the first of the career for Mörssäri, representing Varpaisjärvi.

Finland did well at the European Championships anyway, with two silver and two bronze medals at home.

Silver grabbed the men’s 74kg series Jani Haapamäki (210 kg) and women in the 52 kg series Marcela Sandvik (112.5 kg).

Bronze medals celebrated in women’s 69 kg series Milla Haapamäki (145 kg) and in the 63 kg series Maria Karjalainen (132.5 kg).

Haapamäki’s 19-year-old Haapamäki was a new record for young people in Finland. The result also touches the open series SE.
