Thomas Müller again meets the Vancouver Whitecaps and celebrates a German record with a historic cup victory: No player has ever won.

First he sank a penalty to the 300th goal of his career, then he celebrated the historic cup victory with his teammates: Thomas Müller made himself immortal with title number 35 of his great career. Through the 4-2 success with his Vancouver Whitecaps in the final of the Canadian Cup competition against the small local rival Vancouver FC, the attacker passed his 2014 world championship colleague Toni Kroos (34 titles) and is now the most successful German footballer.

“The other has more for that Champions League title “

“I would rather say: ‘The most successful title hamster in Germany.’,” Müller told the Sport Bild: “The question is always: How important are you these titles? One becomes a national champion more often, the other has more champions League victories on the account.”

Kroos, who ended his career in 2024, won the premier class six times. Müller, who is still under contract in Vancouver until the end of 2026, won this title twice. “Statistics are a nice thing, nothing more and no less. I don’t play football for my ‘title legacy’, but because I just love to be on the pitch,” said the long-time Bayern professional.

Vancouver takes part in the Champions Cup

Müller was able to look forward to twice on Thursday night. In addition to the title, after the Canadian cup final, in which he put it on 1-0 and scored the 2-0 himself, he also presented a cake for his 300th goal at the club and national team level on the square. “Do you count the goals in training sessions?” He asked jokingly and then blown the candles with a wide grin.

With the cup success, Müller and his Whitecaps also secured a place in the Concacaf Champions Cup (comparable to the Champions League in Europe) for the next season. So an end to the title hunt is not in sight – especially since the play -offs in the league (MLS) have not even started.
