No stops for the world championship. Once the Japan GP has been archived, where Marc Marquez won the MotoGP title, he stops in Indonesia. The eighteenth world act is staged in Mandalika. The route will host a Grand Prix for the fourth time after the debut in the calendar, which took place during the 2022 season. It is not the first time absolute for a Indonesian track, given that, between 1996 and 1997, the World Championship competed in Jellyf. On the other hand, the Pertamine Mandalika Circuit has already shown that it is an interesting track, capable of giving great emotions in the past seasons.

The characteristics

4.301 km long, the circuit is on average demanding for the brakes, urged by the MotoGP drivers for less than 28 seconds in a lap. According to the Brembo technicians, the Mandalika track features an index of difficulty equal to 3, considering a scale from 1 to 6. The evaluation takes into account a significant figure: as many as four of the 9 detached are considered not very demanding for the braking system, while three are classified with a “medium” coefficient. In two curves, however, the speed decreases by at least 100 km/he stresses to the brakes are high. The hardest point is curve 1: in this right bend, the MotoGPs go from 309 km/has 107 km/h in 4.5 seconds, along 239 meters with a load on the brake lever equal to 5.7 kg. The deceleration reaches 1.5 ge The pressure of the Brembo brake liquid touches the peak of 12.3 bar. The second particularly delicate section is curve 10, which turns in turn to the right: the deceleration of 277 km/has 90 km/h takes place in 213 meters and 4.6 seconds. The load on the brake is 5.3 kg.

curse

In Indonesia the eyes will be focused on the new world champion, Marc Marquez. However, Ducati’s Spanish has never shone to Mandalika. The best result is a third place in the Sprint 2024, while in the long race it has never achieved points. Three years ago he gave Fortefeit after a terrible accident during the Warm Up, while in 2023 he ended with a fall. No joys also last season, when the engine of his Ducati Gresini went in smoke, compromising the possible world championship comeback. The results add up to Marquez’s poor feeling for a particular stretch of the track, or the second sector.

alternation

Mandalika’s weekend could give surprising results. The historical precedents say it. So far no pilot of the world championship has ever won twice in Indonesia considering all the editions, including the two-year period 1996-1997. As for MotoGP, this time even this time the winner of the previous season will repeat: Jorge Martin, triumphant in 2024, will be absent for injury. On the other hand, Miguel Oliveira and Francesco Bagnaia, the pilots who obtained success respectively in 2022 and 2023, were present. Two years ago, the victory allowed Pecco to reverse the route against Martin, rejecting the attempt to comeback of the Spaniard in the World Cup. Now Mandalika could help him in pursuit in second world championship.
