Demolition company Bork in Stuifzand has a world first. On Friday a factory will open there that reduces concrete debris in its original condition, namely in cement stone powder, concrete sand and concrete granulate. Bork wants to prevent us from exhausting the earth to raw materials.
Director Jan Bork is a bit proud of the circular mineral factory, as the installation is called with an expensive word. The system has been thinned for ten years and it runs like a tierelier, says Bork.
In a meter -high factory hall, “also made of reused material, namely from two demolished sports halls in Paterswolde”, it says the ingenious showpiece: a joekel of an installation, which weighs 60,000 kilos. The bright green monster eventually sives the rubble concrete, after it has first been through the crusher who is right next to it. Only one operator is needed, the system is fully automatic.
Four residual flows come out, cement stone powder, concrete sand, and concrete granulate, with a smaller and somewhat larger pebble. “Beautiful stuff this,” says Manager Recycling Arnout Vos, while he makes the very fine powder stuff slide through his hands, “because you can make concrete again. The mortar companies drive their bulk trucks under our silos, and fully loaded with our recycled powder they can turn concrete for construction. Beautiful right?”
