Berlin (dpa-AfX)-Foreign Minister Johann WadePhul sees a “unique chance” in the plan of US President Donald Trump to terminate the Gaza War. “He offers hope for hundreds of thousands who suffer in Gaza – from bitter battles, hostile and under unimaginable humanitarian need,” said the CDU politician in Berlin in the evening. There is “finally hope for Israelis and Palestinians that this war could soon be over”.
“This chance must not be wasted. Hamas has to grab it. I urgently ask everyone who can influence Hamas to do this now,” emphasized WadePhul.
The German Foreign Minister praised Trump’s commitment to an end to the Gaza War and emphasized that the federal government was ready to specifically support the plan. “With our American, Arab and European partners, a common goal unites us: the permanent security of the Jewish state of Israel and a political perspective for the Palestinians.” WadePhul also expressed hope of a “broader compensation process in the Middle East”.
