A Dutch cargo ship was attacked in the Gulf of Aden and would be on fire. This is reported by the Reuters news agency that Ambrey, a British maritime security agency, gives as a source. According to ANP news agency, two crew members were injured.

The organization speaks in a statement about considerable damage after an attack with an unknown explosive in the Gulf of Aden, which lies with Yemen. As a result, fire would also have broken out.

The name of the ship is not yet known, but it would be a ship in the category General Cargo. This includes bulk carriers, but no tankers or container ships.

The attack is said to have taken place 128 nautical miles (more than 220 kilometers) southeast of Aden, the most important port city of Yemen.

Reuters quotes military sources that say that the ship was hit by an unknown projectile and would be on fire.

The ship would have already been attacked on 23 September, even according to Ambrey, albeit without success.

As usual for many international ships in this sea, the ship had no transponder on. As a result, it could not be identified through public trackers as a potential target for the Yemeni Houthis, a group affiliated with Iran that holds large parts of Yemen.

Since 2023, that group has been carrying out attacks on ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, who would have a band with Israel. They say they do this out of solidarity with the Palestinians.
