Olcay Gulsen takes serious into account that a civil war is erupting in the Netherlands. She already has a flight plan ready if things go completely wrong here. “Then I go to Australia.”
According to Olcay Gulsen, our country is going in the wrong direction. She fears a war, and then not caused by an aggressor such as Russia, but as a result of tensions within our society. “I think we are really on the eve of – that is almost impossible – a war, right?” She says in the Lightless Lounge.
Olcay on the run
A war? Isn’t that a bit exaggerated? “Yes, I got a bit convinced of that, yes. I think it’s a war about our Islamophobia, I think. That the Muslims are in principle the biggest problem, yes.”
Podcast presenter Wes van Os: “Do you already have a flight plan? Are you going to flights and which country?”
Olcay: “Well, I was thinking: we are either climate refugees or we become refugees through a war, and then I would go to Australia.”
Border
Isn’t Australia a controversial and strict asylum policy? “Yes, the boundaries are always closed there, so how do I get to Australia? Yes, they are indeed very critical, but I think you really have to be very far away.”
Wes: “Then I might first try New Zealand and cross from there. That you might be more likely or something.”
Olcay: “Yes, because I think: Europe is totally useless, right?”
“America not either”
Wes agrees. “And no, you don’t want to be America either.”
Co-host Nikkie de Jager: “No, even less than Europe!”
Olcay: “Oh, terrible.”
Wes: “So I also thought about this and my country Is … it depends on it, of course I have gradations. First I try Portugal, because that is closer to the coast and that has to do with my follow -up plan. ”
“Let’s go!”
Portugal is a better destination for when it is necessary to flee further, Wes explains. “If there is a need I can go to the Azores very quickly, or I want to go to Argentina.”
Olcay: “Yes, Argentina is fantastic.”
Wes: “Let’s Goright? ”
Well, put the life jackets ready.
