On the A59 between Waalwijk and Den Bosch, a woman died on Saturday evening after she tried to cross the highway. She was hit by a car and died on the spot. The highway is closed.
The accident happened just before nine o’clock in the evening. The woman ended up on the roadside along the highway. The car came to a halt about two hundred meters away and is considerably damaged. How the driver is doing is unclear.
The fire brigade has placed a viewing screen to shield the victim. But many bystanders have gathered at a nearby viaduct.
The police cannot say anything about the identity of the woman.
Road closed
The highway is completely closed for research and remains until midnight. Road users towards Den Bosch are diverted via the A27, A15 and A2, the ANWB reports.
