Substitute after collapsing

The home win against Fürth had a aftertaste for second division FC Schalke 04: the royal blue is expected to do without their defense chief Timo Becker. The 28-year-old, who had previously played all the games over the full distance in the current season, had to be replaced with a knee injury after nine minutes-and then shed bitter tears on the bench.
There is still a precise diagnosis and further examinations. The newcomer from Kiel was comforted by his Schalke teammates after his replacement, coach Miron Muslic said immediately after the game concluded that he had “no good news. There is a suspicion of an inner ligament injury. And when I look at the pictures: it doesn’t look good.” Particularly bitter: Becker apparently suffered the injury after a collision with a teammate Ron Schallenberg and without opposing influence.
Becker had already missed parts of the training week during the week during the away win in Magdeburg last week. Now Muslic should have to plan longer without his regular player. Against Fürth, Mertcan Ayhan came for the replaced Becker to his third assignment during the current season. The 19 -year -old Youngster also had to be replaced by Janik Bachmann shortly before the end. However, Muslic made it clear that the substitution had no performance or health reasons: “The boy was not injured, but just tired.”
