What is that Challenger series?

The Nebelhorn Trophy is part of the ISU Challenger series – a kind of B series to the actual World Cup, which is called Grand Prix in figure skating. The absolute top athletes such as Hase/Volodin also take part in it, because it serves as a competition practice.

At the start of the season in Oberstdorf, the runners and couples test their new choreographies, which they have developed over the summer. Comparable to the Challenger series is the Diamond League in athletics. Athletes can also participate here at any time, but it is not a league mode in which several competitions would have to be completed.
