That seems to be the reason why Van der Poel and Phelps met and played a round of Golf. Who came out there as the best is not clear.

Van der Poel has again had a particularly successful cycling year. The Dutchman won, among others, Milan-Sanremo, Paris-Roubaix, a ride in the Tour de France and also wore the yellow jersey for a few days. His last game of the season, the World Mountainbike World Cup, was disappointing. He became 29th.
