The young man, who grew up in the Gunners youth teams, did not make it: the accident last Saturday with his Chichester City, then the pharmacological coma and an intervention, but the lesions were too serious. Club condolence: “We are devastated”
Billy Vigar, 21 years old, a former Arsenal youth footballer, died following a serious brain injury reported last Saturday during a match with his Chichester City. The accident occurred at the beginning of the challenge against Wingate & Finchley, in the Isthmian Premier Division, seventh series. According to the British reconstructions, the boy would have beaten his head against a tough bordocked surface. The club explained in a note that “Vigar had been induced in a pharmacological coma and Tuesday had undergone surgery to increase the possibilities of recovery, but the injury proved too serious. His family is devastated that this happened while playing the sport he loved”. “We are devastated in learning that Billy Vigar has left us,” said the English football federation (FA). “Our most heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, loved ones and all the Chichester City FC at this incredibly difficult moment”.
