The then 21-year-old coachman stayed in Uganda in 2015 for an internship. She disappeared in October of that year while on Safari in Murchison Falls Nature Park with two travel companions led by Kijjambu. Koetsier suffered from a bipolar disorder and would have received a manic episode.

Forester Stephen Nyadru testified this summer that he had warned Kijjambu to bring a coach to a hospital because she behaved strangely. She would have tried to set fire to grass and jump from a moving car. Koetsiers Mother, Marije Slijkerman, stated to the judge that she charged the guide that he ignored all warnings.

A few garments from Koetsier were found in strange places. This way her underpants hung high in a tree. It is still unclear what happened to her.
