Great grief: ex-arsenal talent is dead

English football complains about the loss of a previous talent: Billy Vigar has succumbed to a serious injury. There is already a guess – an accident is said to have been involved.
The former Arsenal player Billy Vigar died after a serious brain injury at the age of only 21. This was announced by his current club Chichester City. Vigar suffered the injury last Saturday in his team’s present at Wingate and Finchley. He was then transferred to an artificial coma and operated on Tuesday. However, the injuries were too bad, so he died on Thursday.
The exact circumstances that led to serious injury are not known. According to media reports, Vigar is said to have crashed into a concrete wall, as can be read at the BBC.
“His family is destroyed that this happened to him when he practiced his beloved sport,” quotes the club, which plays in the Istmian League, from a statement by Vigar’s family. “An operation was necessary on Tuesday to support chances of recovery,” the family said. “Although this intervention helped, the injury was too much for him and he died on Thursday morning.” Vigar once belonged to the Arsenal Youth Academy before leaving the Gunners in 2024 after a few borrowing. Arsenal and also the English Association Fa expressed their condolences.
“In addition to his remarkable talent, he will always be remembered for his love for the game, for the pride to represent our club, and when teammates and trainers are remembered by popular character,” said Arsenal.
Chichester, Vigar’s last club, postponed his upcoming game on Saturday against Lewes indefinitely.
