Athletics – Jorinde van Klinken has been nominated for the election of European Athlete of the Year. In addition to Van Klinken, Femke Bol and Jessica Schilder for the Netherlands have also been nominated.
Van Klinken owes her nomination largely to her performance at the Athletics World Championships, which took place in Tokyo last September. The athlete from Assen took the silver medal in the discus throw there and was therefore the first Dutch woman ever to get a medal in that section.
For Femke Bol it would be the third time, if she would be European athlete of the year this year: she won the election earlier in 2022 and 2023. Last year that prize went to the Ukrainian high -edge Jaroslava Majoetsjich. The winner of this year’s election will be announced on October 25, during a gala in the Georgian city of Batoemi.
