The era with seals and Ribéry has long been history at Bayern. And after a total of 25 years at Bayern, Müller also said goodbye to his heart club in the summer. This was accompanied by some background noises and unfortunate statements by honorary president Uli Hoeneß, who publicly gave Müller a farewell.
But that’s not why Hoeneß is now in vain in Müller’s Himmelbuch. The illustrator of the book revealed the real reason, Christoph Schöne. He got a well -done concept, but he had not liked a few things, said Schöne of the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”: “I also said: I don’t really want to draw the Uli Hoeneß and I don’t really want to draw the Schuhbeck either, at most in convict clothing.” The background: Both Hoeneß and Bavaria’s former chef Alfons Schuhbeck were sentenced to prison terms in the past due to tax evasion.
With his change to the Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada, Müller has now opened a new chapter in his career to the North American Major League Soccer (MLS). There he experienced a dream start and most recently scored a hat trick, i.e. three goals in one game.
So his book may soon need a new edition with an additional double page to the Canada chapter. In any case, Müller already has precise ideas about what should be seen. “Of course, I would like to show the fans a full Vancouver Whitecaps Stadium in which I stem’s MLS trophy with my teammates,” says Müller. “We are currently playing quite well and are in the table above. The playoffs start at the end of October and then it counts. Let’s see if it works in the end.”
Is there a flight ticket back to Munich to FC Bayern in Müller’s plans according to the final chapter of his professional career? After all, it is no secret that FC Bayern is the great wish that Müller could return in a leadership role after his active time. “Bavaria will always stay my home,” says Müller, asked about it, “but first I enjoy life in Canada and try to successfully play football here.”
