Without science there would be no escalators, cars and lifts. Are you curious about the world behind science? That works out well, because on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October is the Weekend of Science. Read below what you can do in Zoetermeer.

Universities, colleges, museums, hospitals and research institutions open throughout the Netherlands. Visitors may then come to places that are normally not visible to the public. Most activities are free.

Every year the Weekend of Science has a theme. This time that is, just like the previous edition: “How does it work?” In Zoetermeer, visitors can take a look at Dutch Innovation Factory on Bleiswijkseweg 37th on Friday 3 October.

For everyone from the age of 16 you can participate for free in an interactive workshop on how satellite data is used for climate, agriculture and smart cities between 1.30 pm and 4.30 pm. You learn about remote sensinginvestigates real applications and works on a practical issue in which your fresh look counts. To register is mandatory, a lunch is ready at 12.30 pm for the workshop.

Weekend of Science

The special weekend is for everyone and all ages to discover the world of science and technology. The organization focuses on families with children between 8 and 14 years old. Nemo Science Museum in Amsterdam is the organizer of Weekend of Science, commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
