The women of the 1st FC Köln ran their first win of the season in the Bundesliga and left the end of the table.

The previously victorious and pointless Cologne women prevailed on Wednesday in their fourth game of the season 2-1 (2-1) at the still winless SGS Essen, which now the bottom of the Women’s Bundesliga is. FC initially moved to eleventh place.

Cologne took the lead with the first shot of the game. After a long ball by Sara Agrez across the Essen defense chain, Sandra Jessen (11th) turned over the SGS keeper Kim Sindermann that is too hesitant and pushed in 1-0.

Just three minutes later, an almost identical situation led to the second Cologne goal. Again, Jessen (14th) ran a long -beaten ball – this time from goalkeeper Lisa Schmitz – and pulled off the penalty area border. Her shot was so unhappily deflected by Essen’s central defender Vanessa Fürst in a block attempt that the ball sailed into the goal over Sindermann – 2-0.

Van Belle shortens for the SGS

Afterwards Essen had more game control, but did not necessarily become. Cologne lurked on counterattack. In the 32nd minute, the SGS also scored the connection goal with its first good chance. After a long throw -away from the left side, Shari van Belle was released in the Cologne penalty area and circled the ball from about 14 meters in the top right into the corner. The hosts remained the better team in an intensive encounter, but by the half -time break, neither of the two clubs could still play out any significant options.

In the second half, Jessen (52nd) had her third goal on his foot, but after a cross from Lydia Andrade, the FC striker failed with a header on the crossbar. Essen worked to equalize, with Cologne being better chances. During a shot by Martyna Wiankowska (66th) from 18 meters, Essen’s keeper Sindermann stretched and steered the ball on the crossbar with his fingertips. Sindermann also showed a strong reaction when there was a shot from Andrade (73.) from an acute angle.

In the final phase, Andrade (82nd) ​​had the next top chance to make the decision – again after a long ball. But this time the Cologne native did not come past the attentive Sindermann. So Essen was in the game, but also pale in the final phase in front of the goal.
