Minister Mona Keijzer (BBB) announces measures to relieve the overcrowded registration center in Ter Apel. In doing so, she focuses on, among other things, the so -called narizers in the reception centers. She announces this in a letter to the Lower House.
The BBB minister thinks that this releases more reception places in the country. As a result, asylum seekers from Ter Apel can move on faster to reception locations. She expects that the pressure on the registration center will decrease. “We run into the limits of what we can do and that is why we start here immediately,” explains Keijzer.
Mayor Jaap Velema van Westerwolde is not yet cheering: “I cannot oversee the effect of this measure of the minister. Normally this is discussed on the national control table. I do not know whether this has happened now. However, the minister’s measure does not yet offer a solution for the high number of safe randers, mostly single men. They bound the village of the minister.
Also last night there were more than the maximum number of two thousand asylum seekers permitted by the court in Ter Apel. This has been the case seven times in the past two weeks. As a result, the fine that the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) has to pay to the municipality of Westerwolde has risen to 350,000 euros.
In the letter to the House of Representatives, Keijzer continues to continue with the search for extra reception places. “The COA, together with the department, continues with the realization of new emergency shelter and optimizing the occupation of existing COA locations,” she writes.
