Footballers from Union Berlin celebrate premiere victory in the Bundesliga

Historical moment for the promoters of the 1st FC Union: In the stadium on the old forestry, they won 2-0 against the SGS Essen – and thus won their first victory in the Bundesliga. The FCU played furiously, especially in the first half.more

The course of the game

The guests from the capital started pushing and quickly took control. Through early start, they hardly let Jena pass the center line, while they themselves let the ball run through their own ranks in a controlled manner and took the opposing penalty area in time. However, the last punch was still missing. Sophie Weidauer had the first really good opportunity in the 13th minute, but her shot sailed just past the right post.

What did not work out of the game at first, the Berliners then regulated by a standard. After a short corner, Katja Orschmann suddenly appeared completely freely in the back area and simply pulled off. The low shot from a good 20 meters sailed under the somewhat sluggish goalkeeper Hannah Etzold for the 1-0 lead in the left corner (29th).

Even if the lead after the first half was only scarce, it seemed as if the team of trainer Ailien Poese would not let anything burn here today. With over 65 percent possession of the ball, around twice as much passes as the opponents and a clear plus on goal shots, Union went into the cabin.

But with a gift they brought Jena back into play shortly after the restart. FCU keeper Cara Bösl made a back pass jump off far too far, so that the starting striker Isabella suddenly got her foot on the ball. He landed in front of Jena’s Rieke Tietz, who hit the compensation from a short distance (47th).

Why the game schedule of the women’s Bundesliga at the 1st FC Union causes displeasure

Seven games, seven kick-off times: The women’s Bundesliga plays from Friday to Monday evening. Parallel games? None. The recently criticized climber 1. FC Union. But the DFB defends the model. By Johannes Mohrenmore

Apparently a liberation for the hosts, who then performed much more confidently. The game was balanced until the final phase and it looked like a draw. But a standard in the last minute Union brought victory. In a free kick from the left sixteen edge, Dina Orschmann prevailed on the long post and headed the ball into the goal to 2-1.

Player of the day

Must be the twins today. For Dina it was the first start -up mission this season – and she rotated into the team for her sister. But she could hardly have imagined this debut. While her offensive colleagues bite their teeth on the lead goal in the initial phase, the defensive player simply took a heart from the second row and scored the first Bundesliga goal of her career.

The family evening of the Orschmanns made the family evening of the Orschmanns perfect that Sister Dina also made it possible to make the last minute.

What was going on there?

Despite the inconceivable season on Tuesday evening and the autumn temperatures, the fans of the 1. FC Union was relied on as always. More than 200 supporters had made their way to Thuringia with the Berliners and took over the Ernst Abbe sports field with their tireless chants. Rieke Tietz (goal scorer Carl Zeiss Jena): We overslept the first half a bit. In the second half we came out much better and could have done it 2-1. But in the last ten minutes we have been pet on the goal again. It was very bitter to collect this in the 90th minute. “
