In the game against Eintracht Frankfurt, Steffen Baumgart saw the red card. The DFB determined because of a middle finger gesture. Now the punishment has been determined.
Union coach Steffen Baumgart is only blocked for one game after the red card in the Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt. The DFB officially announced this on Tuesday. In addition, the trainer is sentenced to a fine of 15,000 euros.
Baumgart had shown a middle finger after his team’s victory against Eintracht Frankfurt after the 4: 3 goal of the Frankfurter because he was annoyed by the previous penalty decision. The middle finger was unnoticed by the referees.
However, the coach flew off the square because he first saw the yellow card for excessive complaints and then the red card for stepping a paper ball. After TV images showed the middle finger gesture, the DFB control committee took investigation into the investigation, and a longer lock was at least possible.
The DFB sports court took into account in favor of Baumgart that he apologized for his misconduct after the game in the referee cabin. However, the judges rated a punishable thing that his appearance could have favored a further escalation – especially in the spectator area – and the fact that Baumgart showed the middle finger, which the sports court interpreted as no specific person.
Baumgart has to follow the next home game against his previous employer Hamburger SV from the stands. He is not allowed to enter the interior half an hour before half an hour after the final whistle. He is also not allowed to contact his team during this period.
