He won the title with the team of FC Liverpool 2013 and 2014 in the Women’s Super League. Now Matt Beard has died surprisingly.

English football loses a formative figure in the women’s area: Matt Beard, former coach of FC Liverpool, died at the age of 47. As the club announced, the news of the death of the successful coach was completely surprising.

Above all, Beard shaped the most successful time of Liverpool women. Between 2012 and 2015 he led the team to two championship titles in the Women’s Super League – 2013 and 2014. In both years he was elected manager of the year.

“The Liverpool Football Club is deeply shocked and sad about the sudden death of the former LFC women’s manager Matt Beard,” said the club. The English Football Association FA also praised him as “a key figure in the development of women’s football”. He will “miss everyone”.

After stations at Millwall Lionesses and FC Chelsea, Beard took over the coaching position in Liverpool for the first time in 2012. In 2021 he returned to the Merseyside and led the team directly back to the highest English division. Until last season he was on the side line of the Liverpool women again. In August he gave up his post at FC Burnley after a short time.
